The By the Glass project is a digitized, informational collection of wine items from the New York Public Library’s Buttolph Menu Collection. Although only a proof of concept, the By The Glass project would compile every wine item in the Buttolph Collection beyond our parameters of wines of red, white, sparkling, and rose type, between years 1970 and 2000, in New York City, NY. Every item would also have a full description of its wine-type, grape growing region, winemaker, and relative reception. Considering the scale of synthesizing such a compilation, ours alone including 220 menu items, it would take a lot of time, effort, and dedication to realize fully. As a start, we’ve also provided a full research entry describing a wine item in every wine-type category.
